Like an Iceberg

Waiting like an iceberg, waiting for change. - song lyrics by KT Tunstall

I heard these lyrics today and sort of thought it described us for the past 2-3 years. I feel like we've been in this state of limbo. Month to month hoping that our lives would change in the way that would make us parents. Not really knowing how to move on with our lives. Should we move on? Should we still wait? Should I change jobs? Should we take a vacation or save vacation time? It's weird waiting for change. You feel like you should have some sort of control over it. Like other things that have caused change in our lives... graduation, marriage, new jobs, new cars, where we live... most of these things we have some control over. We've learned that we have little control in when we will become parents. It's a good lesson to learn, and it's freeing to remember who really allows change to unfold in our life. And while it is time consuming to wait for the iceberg to change. I remember that icebergs carve out wonderful mountains, lakes and valleys during their journeys, and that beautiful things are happening in our lives while we wait, some things that we may not even know until the iceberg moves.

We returned David to his parents on Sunday night, and drove away feeling a little sad. The back seat was empty, the house was quiet, there were no more smells of poop or peanut butter. We had so much fun with that little bear cub. He left us longing even more.

My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing. James 1:2-4

Love your James reference . . . my favorite book in the Bible. Nathan and I continue to pray for you and admire your honesty, ability to be open and your dedication to your treatment.

When God gives you a baby, that child is going to be so lucky to have parents who have worked so hard for him/her.

Keep up your strength and allow yourself to be weak when you need to be!
